Poisonous Plants

The following is a list of the common names of some plants which are known to be toxic to pets. Although it is extensive, in is not all-inclusive. Some plants, such as the Poinsettia, are considered to be mildly toxic. Others, such as those plants in the Lily family, can be exceedingly toxic, especially to cats. If you are concerned your animal may have ingested a toxic plant, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

This list was compiled by the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the only center of its kind to offer assistance to owners and veterinarians following animal exposure to poisons. They are located in Urbana, Illinois, and provide much needed information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information, they can be reached at 1-888-426-4435, or you can visit their website at www.apcc.aspca.org.
